Convert to writable

Convert to Writable (A) transforms the current PDF document into an editable state called Write mode, in which you can edit and manipulate contents, just like that way you work in MS Word. In Write mode, you may directly switch to Review mode anytime using Switch to Review Mode (B) to use the features therein. To remove writability, click Prevent Further Edits (C) to permanently revert to Review mode unless you use the Convert to Writable feature again.

    1. Open a PDF file in Right PDF Editor and choose Home/Advanced > Content Editing > Convert to Writable .

    2. In the Convert to Writable dialog box, depending on the content of document, select either Document or Form. You may select the other options such as Preserve original layout or Conversion Range. Click Convert.

    3. A progress bar appears in the bottom-right corner of the document pane. You will enter Write mode after conversion is over.

Note: The time required for conversion varies according to size and complexity of the document. Once the Prevent Further Edits feature is executed, you need to start over to make it editable again.

Convert to writable Excel

Sometimes you might need to insert additional rows or columns, or update data in an existing chart in PDF files. When the situation arises, you need an application like MS Excel to edit forms and perform calculations. Convert to Writable Excel lets you convert the current document to an Excel file and then turns on the specialized edit mode, in which you can directly modify table content, apply formula, etc. Afterwards, you can use the Convert to PDF feature to save the Excel file as PDF. This feature performs better when PDF documents to be converted are forms or comprise mostly tables. Note that converting non-table documents might lead to layout and formatting errors.

    1. Open a PDF file and choose Home > Content Editing > Convert to Writable Excel .

    2. In the Convert to Writable Excel dialog box, decide whether to convert all pages on a sheet or split each page on respective sheet, and edit border settings if needed. If you want to make the output Excel file searchable, in the OCR Settings section, check Run OCR if needed and choose a language from the the list, or select Automatic language detection. Click Convert.

    3. The Excel file with the file name [Original file name .xlsx] opens in a new window. Then you can use the features therein to modify table contents, perform calculation, etc.
