Right PDF lets you create a PDF file directly from a paper document with ease. In scan settings, you can choose to scan to a new document, to an existing file or portfolio, or run OCR to make text searchable and compliant with PDF/A-1b.

  • On Menu Bar, choose File > New > From Scanner and select Quick Scan.

  • In the Scan Settings dialog box, select a scanner from the Scanner drop-down menu. In the Output section, if you are going to create multiple files, check Multiple files and click More Options… to determine the number of pages of each file, the prefix of file name, and whether to create portfolio; to append the scanned content to an existing file or portfolio, select Append to existing file or portfolio.

  • In the Document Settings section, you can select Reduce File Size and set a compression ratio using the slider bar. In PDF type, choose one from the following:

    • Image-only

    • Searchable

    • Searchable and editable

    • MRC PDF Document

    • Searchable MRC

  • Alternatively, choose a PDF subset from the Compatibility menu. If you select Searchable, Searchable and editable or Searchable MRC, Right PDF will run OCR automatically. For optimal result, please select languages appropriate to the document content and pay attention to the following restrictions:

    • Select either only one Asian language, or one or more languages using the Latin or Cyrillic alphabet.

    • Asian cannot be mixed with other languages.

Note: If your document exceeds these restrictions, select Automatic language detection.

  • Click Scan.
