After a multimedia file is added to the PDF, you can edit its properties in the Multimedia Properties dialog box which offers the options such as adding specific actions or adjusting the appearance of the file.  Properties will change based on the Media Compatibility (Multimedia, ) you specified when adding multimedia file.


Set properties for rich media

  1. Follow either way to open Rich Media Properties dialog box:

    1. Double-click the play area of multimedia with Select tool.

    2. Right-click a multimedia and select Properties… from the menu with Select tool.

  2. Do the following in the dialog box:

    1. Settings. Enter the title and description for the movie or sound.

    2. Appearance. Specify the appearance of the play area, like border and cover.

  3. Click Close.


Set properties for PDF 1.5 and later compatible files

  1. Do either of the following to open the Multimedia Properties dialog box:

    • Double-click the play area of the multimedia file with the Select tool.

    • Right-click the play area of the multimedia file and select Properties… from the menu with the Select tool.

  1. The Multimedia Properties dialog box contains the following options:

    • Settings. Type the title and description of the file. To add alternate renditions, click Add… and specify the file source for the rendition. To change rendition settings such as volume level and showing player controls, select the media rendition clip and click Edit…. Click OK to return to the Multimedia Properties dialog box. See Create alternate renditions for more information.

    • Actions. Define how to initiate media actions and determine new actions for the various mouse movements. In Select Action, specify the action the media file takes when the user fulfills the trigger. The Do Action setting box displays the list of triggers and actions you defined for the media file.

    • Appearance. Determine the border appearance of the play area and the cover settings.

  1. Click Close.


Set properties for PDF 1.4 and earlier compatible files

  1. Do either of the following to open the Multimedia Properties dialog box:

    • Double-click the play area of the multimedia file with the Select tool.

    • Right-click the play area of the multimedia file and select Properties… from the menu with the Select tool.

  1. The Multimedia Properties dialog box contains the following tabs and options:

    • General. Type a name in the Title box. To specify a different media file in a local drive, select Local File and click Select…. To specify a different media file located on the Internet, select URL and then type the web address in the field.

    • Playback. Select the following options on the Playback tab:

      • Show player controls. Display a controller bar at the bottom of the play area for users to stop, pause or play.

      • Use floating window. Play the clip in a separate window. You can specify the dimension of the floating window in the Size menu.

      • Play. Specify the play action of the media clip.

    • Appearance. Specify the appearance of the border and cover for the play area.

  1. Click Close.
